A little note to say thank you...
Thanks to all our loyal users over the past months, but we regret to inform you that we can no longer offer and support this App.
In the last 18 months we have protected over 50,000 users from over 1 million nuisance calls.
First Orion as a company is passionate about protecting the general public from what is a plague across the globe. A multi-billion $ business has grown of scammers looking to defraud the public and especially the most vulnerable. The telephone is one of their key methods to do so.
First Orion offered this app in cooperation with the DMA, which runs the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) on behalf of the Information Commissioners Office (ICO). However, First Orion is unable to commercially run the TPS Protect App any longer. The TPS Protect App set out to provide some protection to consumers. Something that today consumers do not have. There are Apps in the App store, yes, but the majority of these fund themselves by stripping your contact information. Beware.
So, what can you do?
The TPS is one thing you should continue to use. Make sure you are registered here. Once you are registered then a cold caller cannot legally make a call to you without your consent, so be sure to do ithttps://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/index.html
Also, use the TPS to complain. If you receive calls, complain about them. The government will be forced to take action someday if people continue to complain.
What can my telephone provider do?
It is your telephone providers responsibility to make sure that you do not receive nuisance and scam calls. They all agreed 3 years go to do so with Ofcom. So what are they doing?
Most of them are doing very little.
First Orion have delivered a solution to Sky.
This is very effective in cutting out unwanted calls. If you are a Sky subscriber be sure to sign up.
First Orion is also working with other UK Operators, but it is painfully slow. Again, if you receive these calls, the only way this will get fixed is to complain. Complain to your telephone provider, fixed or mobile, and get them to fix this.
In the USA First Orion work with T-Mobile and provide free protection to every one of their 80 million customers. AND IT WORKS !!
Don’t let your telephone provider tell you that there is no solution to this problem.
